-Junior Alessia Russo is another dangerous scorer, tallying 21 goals and 10 assists last season. She was named First Team All-ACC and Second Team All-American in 2017.

-Sophomore MaggieBILLINGSLEY is one to watch in the coming years. She had a stellar freshman campaign, scoring 12 goals and adding eight assists. She was named ACC Rookie of the Year and earned Second Team All-ACC honors.


-Senior Samantha Tucker is a three-time All-American and was named ACC Midfielder of the Year in 2016. She’s tallied 21 goals and 23 assists in her career at UNC.

Emily Wold: A senior from Greenwich, Connecticut, Wold is a four-year starter for UNC and one of the best defenders in the country. She’s quick, athletic, and aggressive, with a great sense of timing when it comes to tackles and interceptions. Wold is also very good in the air, making her an excellent all-around defender. She’ll be a key piece of UNC’s defense once again in 2019.

Casey unit: A junior from Medford Lakes, New Jersey,, Pitman is another experienced defender who has been a starter for UNC for the past two years. She’s tall and physically imposing, with good speed and agility. Pitman is also very good at distribution out of the back, which makes her an invaluable asset for UNC’s possession-based style of play.

Head Coach Karen Shelton returns for her 34th season at the helm of the Tar Heels and she’s looking to lead her team to another NCAA National Championship The team is coming off a successful 2018 season in which they finished with a record of 21-3, won the ACC regular season championship, and made it to the NCAA semifinals.

This year’s roster includes 23 players, including 16 returners from last year’s squad. The team is led by senior captains Carrie Wirth and Erin Matson. Wirth, a defenseman, was named first-team All-ACC last season while Matson, a forward, was named second-team All-ACC.
