The Quinnipiac Bobcats
Since 2010, the Quinnipiac Bobcats men’s Ice Hockey team has been on the rise. The team has won back-to-back ECAC championships and has made it to the NCAA tournament four times in the last six years. The Bobcats are currently ranked No. 2 in the nation and are poised to make a run at the National Championship With a strong core of experienced players and a talented group of newcomers, the Quinnipiac Bobcats are a team to watch in the coming years.
The Bobcats’ History
The Quinnipiac Bobcats men’s ice Hockey Team is a NCAA Division I college Ice hockey program that represents Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. The Bobcats are a member of the Ecac Hockey conference. They play their home games at the High Point Solutions Arena at the TD Bank Sports Center.
The Bobcats’ history began in 1971 when they were founded as a Division II program. In 1981, they moved to Division I. Quinnipiac joined ECAC Hockey in 2004. The Bobcats have appeared in the NCAA Tournament four times, most recently in 2013. They have never won a conference tournament or regular season championship.
The 2017-2018 Season
The Bobcats are led by senior captain Soren Jonzzon, who is having an outstanding season. He has tallied 12 goals and 9 assists so far this year. Other Key Players include junior goaltender Andrew Shortridge, who has been lights out between the pipes; and freshman forward Wyatt Bongiovanni, who has made an immediate impact with his speed and scoring ability.
