Nissan Stadium will host its first-ever hockey game on Saturday, January 25, 2020, when the NHL’s Nashville Predators take on the Florida Panthers The game will be played outdoors in front of a capacity crowd of over 60,000 fans, making it one of the largest outdoor games in NHL history
This will be the first time that an NHL game has been held in Tennessee, and Nissan Stadium was selected as the venue due to its size and proximity to downtown Nashville. The game will be held just two days before the 2020 NHL All-Star Game which will take place at Bridgestone Arena.
Both the Predators and Panthers are hopeful that Saturday’s game will be a memorable one for all involved. “We are thrilled to be hosting this historic event at Nissan Stadium,” said Predators President and CEO Sean Henry. “It will be a great opportunity to showcase our sport to a wider audience and continue to grow hockey’s footprint in the South.”
Panthers President Matt Caldwell echoed Henry’s sentiment, saying that “the opportunity to play in front of tens of thousands of fans at an iconic venue like Nissan Stadium is one that we are very excited about.”
Tickets for Saturday’s game go on sale Monday, September 30 at 10:00 a.m. CT via Ticketmaster.
Nissan Stadium to Host Hockey Game
It’s the first time an NHL game will be held at Nissan Stadium, though the venue has hosted numerous other hockey events in the past. In March 2016, for example, a college hockey game Boston College and UConn was played at Nissan Stadium as part of the Hockey East outdoor series. That game drew a crowd of 38,131, a then-record for a college hockey game
Nissan Stadium can seat up to 69,143 for hockey. The Predators said they expect to announce ticket information “in the coming weeks.”
The event will feature two hockey games played outdoors at Nissan Stadium, home of the Tennessee Titans The first game will be between the Nashville Predators and the Carolina Hurricanes and the second game will be between the Nashville Predators and the Dallas Stars
On December 31, 2017, the Nashville Predators will face off against the Boston Bruins outdoors at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, TN. It will be the first Hockey Game ever held at the home of the NFL’s Tennessee Titans
The Predators are led by captain Roman Josi, a defenseman from Bern, Switzerland. Josi has been with the team since they drafted him in 2008. He is a two-time Olympian and helped lead the Swiss team to a silver medal in 2014. Forwards Filip Forsberg and Viktor Arvidsson are also key members of the Predators. Forsberg, from Stockholm, Sweden, was drafted by the Washington Capitals in 2012 but was traded to Nashville in 2013. Arvidsson, from Skelleftea, Sweden, was drafted by Nashville in 2014.
The Bruins are one of the original six teams of the NHL and have won six Stanley Cups (1929, 1939, 1941, 1970, 1972, 2011). They are currently led by captain Zdeno Chara a defenseman from Trencin, Slovakia. Chara has been with the Bruins since they acquired him from Ottawa in 2006. He is a six-time All-Star and helped lead the Bruins to their most recent Stanley Cup victory in 2011. The Bruins also have several other standout players such as forwards Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand. Bergeron, from Ancienne-Lorette, Quebec, Canada, was drafted by Boston in 2003 and has played his entire career with the team. Marchand, from Halifax Nova Scotia Canada was drafted by Boston in 2006.
Nissan Stadium will play host to a outdoor hockey game this winter, and fans are already getting excited. The game, which will be between the Nashville Predators and the Dallas Stars, is scheduled for January 2nd. This will be the first time an NHL game has been played in Nashville, and fans are eager to see their team take the ice.
The game will be held at Nissan Stadium, home of the NFL’s Tennessee Titans. The stadium can seat up to about 69,000 people, so there should be plenty of room for all the Predators fans who want to attend. And if you can’t make it to the game in person, you can always watch it on television; it will be broadcast on NBC.
So whether you’re a die-hard hockey fan or just want to check out a new sport, make sure to mark your calendar for January 2nd. It’s sure to be a great game!
While the final score of the game won’t be remembered, what will be etched in everyone’s mind is what took place after the final horn. As the two teams lined up for the traditional post-game handshake, all hell broke loose. Players from both teams started throwing punches and it quickly turned into a full-fledged brawl. The coaches tried to Store order but it was too late.
It’s unclear what sparked the fight, but tempers had been running hot throughout the game. When it was all over, several players from both teams were bloodied and had to be helped off the ice. This was a black eye for the sport of hockey and it’s something that will not soon be forgotten.
