The Harvard Crimson field hockey team announced their roster for the 2019 season yesterday. The team is made up of 22 talented student athletes who are ready to take on their opponents.

The Harvard Field Hockey Team has announced its roster for the 2019 season. The team will be composed of 27 student-athletes, including 12 seniors.

The Crimson will be led by a talented and experienced group of seniors, who have helped the team to two Ivy League titles and four NCAA tournament appearances in their careers thus far. Additionally, the senior class has been named All-Ivy League on a total of eight occasions.

The team will also feature five juniors, who will be looking to make an impact in their first season with the Crimson. The group includes two forwards, one midfielder, one defender, and one goalkeeper.

The sophomores on the roster will also look to contribute, after getting valuable experience last season. The group includes four forwards, three midfielders, two defenders, and one goalkeeper.

The freshman class is composed of six student-athletes from five different states. The class includes three forwards, two midfielders, and one defender.

“We are really excited about our 2019 roster,” said Head Coach Tjerk van Herwaarden. “We have a great mix of experience and youth that we think will help us compete at a high level this season.”

2019 Season Roster

Harvard Field hockey head coach Teri Parker has announced the team’s roster for the 2019 season. The Crimson will feature 15 returnees and five newcomers on this year’s squad.

Leading the way for Harvard will be senior midfielders Bente van Vlijmen and Peighton Petsinger. van Vlijmen, who was named to the Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-Northeast Region Second Team last season, led the team with 11 goals and 25 points in 2018. Petsinger, meanwhile, tallied seven goals and 17 points last year.

In addition to van Vlijmen and Petsinger, Harvard will also look to seniors Sarah Finnemore (defense), Rachel Dickinson (forward), and Anne Hiatt (goalkeeper) for leadership in 2019. Finnemore was named to the NFHCA Division I All-Northeast Region Second Team last season after anchoring a Crimson defense that recorded eight shutouts. Dickinson, who has played in all 54 games over her first three seasons, tallied eight goals and 19 points last year while Hiatt posted a 9-7 record in net with a 1.46 GAA and .761 save percentage

The Harvard Field Hockey team has announced its roster for the 2019 season. The team will be led by captains Erin McCulloch and Marissa Balleza.

The Crimson will look to defend its Ivy League title and make a run at the NCAA Tournament this season. The team returns a number of Key Players from last year’s squad, including All-Ivy League selections Balleza and McCulloch.

The 2019 schedule features a number of tough opponents, including non-conference foes such as Boston College Northeastern, and UConn. Ivy League play will begin on September 27th when the Crimson travel to Dartmouth to take on the Big Green

Returning for her senior season is captain Marissa Balleza, who was named to the All-Ivy League first team last year. Also back for her final season is goalkeeper Deeley King, who was named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year in 2018.

Joining the team this year are nine freshmen: forwards Mimi Tarrant and Heston Boyd, midfielders/forwards Greta Elder and Lucy Cooper, midfielders Avery Churley and Sophia Martinson, defender Lila Aylesworth, and goalkeepers Charlotte Gunden and Fiona Hobson.

The Crimson will open its season on Friday, Aug. 30 against Albany at Jordan Field.
