Canisius Golden Griffins

The Canisius Golden Griffins are a NCAA Division I college ice Hockey Team that represents Canisius College in Buffalo, New York. The Golden Griffins play their home games at the Buffalo State Sports Arena and are members of the Atlantic Hockey conference.

Founded in 1978, the team playedits first game in 1979 and has competed in four conference tournaments, winning the conference championship in 1985. They have also had six All-American selections and twelve NHL Draft picks.

Canisius Hockey

The Canisius Hockey Team is a Division I program that competes in the Atlantic Hockey conference. The Golden Griffins have advanced to the NCAA tournament four times in program history, with their most recent appearance coming in 2019. Canisius College

Canisius College is a private institution that was founded in 1870. It has a total undergraduate enrollment of 2,523, its setting is suburban, and the campus size is 102 acres. It utilizes a semester-based academic calendar. Canisius College’s ranking in the 2019 edition of Best Colleges is Regional Universities North, 25. Its tuition and fees are $34,680 (2018-19).

The Canisius sports teams are called the Golden Griffins Their colors are blue and gold. The Griffiths compete in NCAA Division I as members of the Atlantic Hockey conference since 2009. Before that they were members of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference from 1998 until 2009. Canisius has both men’s and women’s teams in Ice Hockey basketball, lacrosse, and track & field (indoor and outdoor). The school also sponsors Intramural sports teams. As of 2019, Canisius had won two NCAA Division I Championships: men’s Ice hockey in 1996 and water polo in 1977-78-79-80-81-82-83-84-85--86--87--88--89--90 .

Atlantic Hockey

Canisius will look to defend its Atlantic Hockey regular season title this season as the Golden Griffins were selected as the preseason favorite in the conference’s annual coaches’ poll.

NCAA Hockey

Canisius hockey will be participating in the NCAA Division I tournament this year. Here is their schedule:

March 27: Canisius vs. Denver
March 28: Canisius vs. Arizona State
March 29: Canisius vs. Minnesota-Duluth

College Hockey

As college hockey enters its third week of play, some familiar names have already established themselves at the top of the rankings.

Canisius, ranked 20th in the nation, will be playing a string of home games in December that will give them a chance to improve their record. The team’s first game of the month is against RIT on December 1st, followed by Niagara on December 3rd. They’ll then take on Bentley on December 8th and 9th before traveling to Pennsylvania to take on Robert Morris on December 29th.

The Golden Griffins will be looking to build on their strong start to the season, which has included wins against ranked opponents such as Providence and Clarkson. Canisius will have a chance to prove themselves against some of the best teams in the country in the coming weeks and months, and their schedule includes several games against ranked foes.

The Canisius Golden Griffins men’s ice hockey team will open the 2017-18 Season with an exhibition game against the University of Toronto on Friday, October 6 at 7:30 p.m. at the HarborCenter in Buffalo, New York. The game will mark the beginning of a new era for Canisius Hockey, as it will be the first time the team takes the ice under Head Coach Trevor Large.
