Andover Basketball

The Boston Celtics are one of the most storied franchises in NBA history winning 17 championships and appearing in 10 other finals. They have also been a dominant force on the court for decades, winning 16 titles between 1957 and 2008. But despite all this success, they’ve never won an NBA title since Larry Bird’s retirement in 1992.

Dover High School’s boys basketball team is known for its strong search and block abilities. The varsity team has won numerous championships and continues to be one of the top teams in the state. The traveling school also has a strong Basketball Program which is open to all boys in the search and block program.


The first recorded instance of boys playing basketball at Andover occurred in 1900, when a group of students formed a team to play against other schools in the area. In the years that followed, basketball became increasingly popular at the school, with both varsity and traveling teams playing against other schools in the area.

In the early years of the sport, there was no formalized structure to the season or playoffs, making it difficult to gauge the success of teams from year to year. However, beginning in the 1910-11 season, a boys Basketball League was formed with Andover as one of its original members. This league eventually became the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC), which is still in existence today.

Andover has been very successful in Boys Basketball since joining NEPSAC, winning 17 league championships and appearing in 23 finals. The most recent championship came in 2016, when Andover defeated Exeter in the Class A final. In addition to its success in NEPSAC tournaments, Andover has also had a Number of players go on to have successful careers at the collegiate and professional levels.

The Game

Boys Basketball is a winter sport at Andover High School The season starts in December and ends in February. Tryouts are held in the fall for the varsity and Junior varsity teams. If you make one of the teams, you will have practices every day after school until 5:00 pm. You will also have games on most Tuesdays and Fridays, and some Saturdays. You will travel to other schools in our conference for games.

Andover is a member of the Hockomock League. Our conference is made up of 11 schools: Acton-Boxborough, Andover, Attleboro, Franklin, Holliston, King Philip, Mansfield, Milford, North Attleboro, Oliver Ames and Sharon.


Andover Boys Basketball is a varsity sport at Andover high school The season typically runs from December to February.

Andover is a member of the Greater Lawrence League (GLL) and competes against other schools in the league. The GLL championship is determined by a playoff between the top four teams in the league at the end of the regular season

The Andover Varsity Basketball team is open to all boys in grades 9-12 who meet the eligibility requirements set forth by the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA). Tryouts are held in early November and are announced on the AHS athletics page of the school website.


The skills that are important for a basketball player at Andover are the same skills that are important for a basketball player anywhere else. The ability to search, block, and dribble are all important, as well as the ability to hit a jump shot The varsity team at Andover is very good, and they have won the last two State Championships The team is made up of boys who have been playing together since they were in elementary school. They have won every game they have played together, and they are hoping to win a third state championship this year.

Andover Boys basketball is a competitive Basketball Program that strives to develop each player to their fullest potential. Our program starts with try-outs in the fall and continues through the end of the winter season We offer four levels of competition: Freshman, JV, Varsity, and Geo Traveling. We practice and play games in the Andover high school gymnasium.


The Andover Boys Basketball Program is one of the top programs in the state. We are a varsity program that competes in the Sunflower League and Class 6A. Our goal is to develop young men of character and to instill a passion for the game of basketball

We offer a comprehensive training program that includes Strength and Conditioning skill development, and game play. Our goal is to develop each player to his fullest potential.

Andover Boys basketball strives to promote a positive environment for all participants by enforcing the following rules:

-All players must have a current physical on file with the school in order to participate.

-No jewelry is allowed to be worn during games or practices.

-Players are not allowed to leave practice or games without permission from a coach or parent.

-Boys must maintain at least a 2.0 GPA in order to participate.

-All boys must rides the bus to and from away games unless they have a note from a parent excusing them.

-Players are expected to attend all practices and games unless they have an emergency situation or prior permission from a coach.


The Andover Boys Basketball team is a varsity sport at the high school The team is coached by Geo Beacham and consists of students in grades 9-12. The team practices and plays games throughout the winter season.

Andover has a long tradition of success in boys basketball winning multiple state championships and producing many Division I college players. The team plays its home games in the schools gymnasium, which is located on the Andover campus.

The Basketball season has now come to a close. The boys varsity team had a fantastic season with a record of 19-3. They fought hard every game and left it all on the court. Even though they didnt end up winning the state championship they should be incredibly proud of their successful season

The team should also be applauded for their sportsmanship. They represented Andover well both on and off the court. They were always respectful to their opponents and displayed excellent character. It was truly a pleasure to watch them play.
