Battier, Shane 6-8 Forward/Guard Duke/United States Won two NCAA Championships with Duke in 2001 and 2002. Battier was named National Defensive Player of the Year in 2001 and won the Smith College Player of the Year Award in 2001. He has been a member of Team USA since 2006, winning a gold medal at the Beijing Olympics and a FIBA World Cup gold medal in 2010.
Billups, Chauncey 6-3 Guard Colorado/United States Billups was named National Player of the Year as a senior at Colorado in 1997. He was named Finals MVP when he led the Detroit Pistons to an NBA Championship in 2004. He has won two Olympic gold medals in 2008 and 2012.
Love, Kevin 6-10 Forward UCLA/United States Love was named National Player of the Year as a junior at UCLA in 2009. He led the Minnesota Timberwolves to three straight playoff appearances from 2012 to 2014, averaging 26 points and 12 rebounds per game during that span. Love won an Olympic gold medal with Team USA in 2012.
Paul, Chris 6-0 Guard Wake Forest/United States Paul was named National Player of the Year as a sophomore at Wake Forest in 2005. He is a nine-time All-Star and has led the NBA in steals six times. Paul won Olympic gold medals with Team USA in 2008 and 2012

The team’s Head Coach was Mike Krzyzewski who previously led the “Dream Team” to gold in 1992 and 2008, and Duke University to five NCAA championships. With an overall record of Team USA’s dominant performance, some media outlets called this team better than 1992’s squad, often referred to as “The Dream Team”. Five members of that team were named by USA Basketball as candidates for the 2012 team: Lebron James Carmelo Anthony Kobe Bryant Chris Paul and Tyson Chandler.
The remaining eleven finalists were: Andre Iguodala LaMarcus Aldridge, Chris Bosh, Blake Griffin Dwight Howard Rudy Gay Deron Williams, Danny Granger, Eric Gordon James Harden and Kevin Love. Players not on that list who were later named to the roster included: Anthony Davis (first pick in 2012 NBA draft), Russell Westbrook (third overall), Kevin Durant (second overall) and Tyson Chandler (second-team All-NBA).

The team won all of their games in the preliminary round, leading them to a record of 8-0. They won their quarterfinal match against Australia, but lost their final game against Argentina. They then went on to win the bronze medal game against Russia.
The 2012 United States women’s Olympic basketball team represented the United States of America in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. The team was coached by Geno Auriemma and his assistant coaches were Doug Bruno Jenny Boucek, and Carol Owens.

The 2012 United States men’s Olympic basketball team is composed of twelve players who were chosen from a pool of thirty-six finalists. The selection process was led by Directory of national team Personnel Jerry Colangelo and head coach Mike Krzyzewski
Players for the team were selected from a group of the best players in the NBA, with those not picked serving as alternates should any player be unable to participate. This was the first time since NBA players were allowed on the Olympic team that all participating members had previously played in an NBA All-Star game

The 2012 United States men’s Olympic Basketball team commonly known as “Team USA”, won the gold medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. The team’s head coach was Mike Krzyzewski, while Anthony Davis was the team’s only player with prior Olympic experience.
The team won its first seven games in the preliminary round of the tournament, before losing to Lithuania in its final game of the round. This loss gave Team USA a 53 record in Group A, which placed them second behind undefeated France (62). However, in the quarter-finals Team USA defeated Australia, 10685. They then went on to beat Argentina, 10983, in the semi-finals, and Lithuania, 9994 to win the gold medal.
In total, Team USA won eight games and lost one during their stay in London; their only loss coming against Lithuania in the final game of the preliminary round. During the course of the tournament, they scored an average of 102.1 points per game (PPG) and allowed 71.1 PPG; both marks led all teams during the Olympics. Leaders for Team USA during their campaign included Kyrie Irving (17.8 PPG), Lebron James (16 PPG), Carmelo Anthony (15 PPG), Kevin Durant (14 PPG), Chris Paul (9 APG), and Kobe Bryant (6 RPG).

During the tournament, the Americans lost their two exhibition games. In their first game against Argentina, they only managed to score 85 points, losing 7485. This was the first time since 1992 that Team USA lost an exhibition game. In their second game against Brazil, they won 7776 after Kenneth Faried made a put-back shot at the buzzer. The Americans then went on to win all seven of their group-stage games, including a victory over Lithuania in which they set an Olympic single-game scoring record with 156 points. They advanced to the knockout stage of the tournament where they defeated Australia 11986 in the quarter-finals and Argentina 10983 in the semi-finals before beating Spain 107100 to win their second consecutive and fifth overall Olympic gold medal.
