The 1991 O-Pee-Chee Baseball Set consists of 792 cards, which measure 2-1/2″ by 3-1/2″. The set was released in two series of 396 cards each. The first series featured primarily veterans, while the second series was comprised mainly of rookies and unseasoned veterans. As with the Donruss and Leaf sets that were distributed in the U.S., the Canadian O-Pee-Chee offering was loaded with retirement and traded players, as well as rookies and prospects. Notable rookie cards in the 1991 O-Pee-Chee set include Ray Lankford, Larry Walker Chipper Jones John Valentin, Reggie Sanders and Marquis Grissom.

Icons such as Nolan Ryan Rickey Henderson Cal Ripken Jr., Barry Larkin Jose Canseco and Kirby Puckett are scattered throughout the checklist. However, unlike its U.S. counterparts, numerous All-Star cards were included as part of the base set in 1991 O-Pee Chee Baseball. In addition to the All-Star game cards (#1-22), there were 44 Midsummer Classic MVPs identified on their own individual cards (#727-770). Hall of Famers featured in this product include Ryan (#3), Henderson (#491), Reggie Jackson (#664) and Roberto Clemente (#774).

The first 22 cards in the set feature members of the American and National League All-Star squads from that summer’s game at Toronto’s SkyDome. An additional 44 MVPs from past Midsummer Classics are honored on individual player cards numbered 727 through 770. The 1991 O-pee-chee baseball season was the 112th regular season of Major League Baseball Play began on April 9, when the Chicago White Sox hosted the Milwaukee Brewers at Comiskey Park. The final game was played on October 3, when the Minnesota Twins defeated the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium. A total of 2,451 games were played during the 1991 season.

The 1991 O-pee-chee Baseball All-Star Game was held on July 9, 1991 at SkyDome in Toronto, Canada. The game featured some of the best players in baseball including Rickey Henderson, who was named the MVP.

This year’s All-Star Game also saw the debut of two new cards: the home run Derby card and the All-Star card. These cards were available in packs of 1991 Donruss baseball cards and featured some of the top sluggers in the game.

The 1991 O-pee-chee Baseball Hall of Fame set was released in two series of 200 and 100 cards, respectively. The 200-card series was issued in packs of 15, while the second series was released in a hobby-only format. Each card features a color photo of the player on the front with a yellowish off-white border. The back has a short player profile along with a complete Major League career statistical rundown.
