Commentators:  Michael Cole, Byron Saxton, Tom Phillips, Jonathan Coachman, and Corey Graves

If you missed last Monday’s Raw, click here WWE Monday Night Raw Live Results 4/30/18 (Countdown To Backlash)

Match Number 1:  Seth Rollins (IC Champ) Vs The Miz, for the Intercontinental Championship

These two men set the bar so high for tonight’s PPV.  Seth was selling his knee throughout the match, kicked out of 2 Skull Crushing Finales.  These two worked like they had something to prove.  The ending comes when both men attempt to roll each other up, Seth turns it into a reversal, and nails the Curb Stomp to pin, and retain his Intercontinental Championship.  Both men deserve to be at the top of their respective brands.

Winner, and STILL Intercontinental Champion:  Seth Rollins, by pinfall

Match Number 2:  Nia Jax (Raw Women’s Champ) Vs Alexa Bliss for the Raw Women’s Championship

Nia controlled this match most of the time, but there was a scary moment when Alexa shoved Nia outside of the ring, and fell to the floor.  She almost hit her head.  Alexa tried to get her back in the ring, but couldn’t seal the deal when she did.  Alexa tried Twist of Bliss, but Nia catches her, and finishes her off with a Samoan Drop.  Winner, and still Raw Women’s Champion, Nia Jax.

Winner, and STILL Raw Women’s Champion:  Nia jax, by pinfall

In-Ring Interview:  Nia Jax

Renee Young asks her how it feels to win tonight, Nia said this is for anyone who is being bullied.  Your uniqueness makes her beautiful, don’t ever change for anyone.  And in the end, a bully always gets their ass kicked.

Backstage Promo:  Samoa Joe

Dasha has Joe, and asked if Roman seems rattled, after losing his title match at Wrestlemania, and Greatest Royal Rumble, Joe said Roman is more than rattled, because tonight, he will be losing to Joe.  He will inflict pain, and after tonight, will admit his failures.  Tonight, he makes “The Big Dog” into a whimpering puppy.

Match Number 3:  Jeff Hardy (US Champ) Vs Randy Orton for the United States Championship

Hardy picks up the win with a Swanton Bomb, retaining the US Title.  Moving on, match was fine, but nowhere near as good as the IC Title match.

Winner, and STILL US Champion:  Jeff Hardy, by pinfall

In-Ring Concert:  Elias

Hello, my name is Elias, and I have a question for you….who wants to walk with Elias?  We all know WWE stands for Walk With Elias.  He is good friends with New Jersey’s own Bruce Springsteen.  Bruce calls Elias “The Boss”, and one thing he says he doesn’t like is New Jersey.  He says to Bruce he gets it, New Jersey is a cesspool.  And Elias has a song for Jersey.  So silence your cellphones, hold your applause, and listen up.  The crowd makes noise, and Elias threatens to leave.  Now we have the cheer/boo just by Elias sitting down.  Bruce needs to hear this.  OHHHHH NEW Jersey, clap for your world-famous 4 time Tag Team Champs, and FEEL THE POWER!!  IT’S A NEW DAY, YES IT IS!!

Xavier is actually a fan of Elias’ work, and Elias tells them thanks, but he didn’t finish what he got started.  But do you want autographs, or what?  Kofi wants to know if Elias wants to jam with Elias for one-time concert.  They want to walk with Elias.  Elias is a solo act.  Big E. said they just want to perform with him, so they start playing the drums, symbols, and trombone, respectively.  Elias tells them they have something there, but not tonight.  They will jam together at some point, but tonight, he goes solo.  No Jo-Jo, hit the lights, they will start at the top.

Rusev Day shows up!!  Does Elias know what day today is?  It’s Rusev Day.

Okay, okay cut the music.  What the hell are you two doing here?  Crowd chants Rusev Day.  They are doing whatever they want, Rusev assures him.  There is only one person here who celebrates this holiday in his honor.  It’s not a bootleg Bob Dillon, or The Booty Boys.  Elias tells him this is not Rusev Day, this is Elias’ moment, so Jo-Jo, do the intro, please.  Now comes No Way Jose, with everyone else on Raw doing the conga line.  Elias tells them to stop.  No more conga line, Elias doesn’t need to see any more freaks.  No more Rusev Day, no more New Day.  This is Elias’ night, and nobody needs to interrupt again.  Jo-Jo, please.

GLORIOUS theme song is being played, and Bobby Roode is right behind Elias, nails the Glorious DDT, and we can continue the conga line.

Match Number 4:  Daniel Bryan Vs Big Cass

This was a very short match, about 5 minutes.  Cass hit some big moves, posed, DB took over, nails his kicks, slaps on the Yes Lock, and Cass tapped out.  But Cass is very angry now. and gives Daniel a big boot.

Winner:  Daniel Bryan, by submission

Match Number 5:  Carmella (SD Women’s Champ) Vs Charlotte Flair, for the SD Women’s Championship

Carmella used her mind to survive this match.  Charlotte was able to fight Mella, but during the match, Charlotte hurt her knee.  Mella ducked from the Moonsault, she nailed that hamstring, then covered her for the win.  Mella is MONEY.

Winner, and STILL SD Women’s Champion:  Carmella, by pinfall

Match Number 6:  AJ Styles (WWE Champ) Vs Shinsuke Nakamura in a No DQ match for the WWE Championship

I can’t believe they did this shitty ending.  In a NO DQ match, we get a double countout, because both men kicked each other in the balls.  AJ Styles didn’t wear a cup, but dammit, he fought back with that.  This was becoming another great match here, with a slow story to tell, but the ending ruined it.  Round 4 is coming.

Winner:  Double Countout, AJ Styles retains WWE Championship

Match Number 7:  Bobby Lashley and Braun Strowman Vs Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn

Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn bickered among each other.  At first, Sami wanted to leave, Kevin did not. m Sami threw Kevin into the ring.  Kevin was upset, threw Sami back in.  Kevin pushed Sami, and Sami slaps Kevin.  Kevin is met with a Dominator, and a Power Slam, the match is done.  Braun and Bobby punish Kevin some more, with Sami beside himself.

Winners:  Braun Strowman and Bobby Lashley, by pinfall

Match Number 8:  Roman Reigns Vs Samoa Joe

Joe starts attacking Roman right away, before the bell rang, sent him through an announce table.  When the match starts, this was a fight, with Joe doing everything he can to get Roman to lose, even slapping a Coquina Clutch.  But Roman nails a spear out of nowhere, to win the match, and ends the show.

Winner:  Roman Reigns, by pinfall

Kevin’s Thoughts:

Money in the Bank is 6 weeks away, so I expect the buildup to be big to set up that show.  This card was not built up so much.  In my opinion, the Superstar Shakeup needed to take place tomorrow night, or next week.  Set up a new era, so to speak, like last year.  Between that and Greatest Royal Rumble, the build was not as good as it could have been.  But the matches were good, I just question why give us another non-finish with the WWE Championship, when it is a No-DQ match.  Just purely a Vince McMahon idea.

The IC Title match stole the show though, and they highlighted everything.  Seth and The Miz should be elevated to the respective big titles.  They are on their best run.  I think we are going to see another Reigns vs Lesnar match too, after seeing Roman close out tonight’s show by beating Joe.  We will see tomorrow.  I won’t be watching it live though, the Cleveland Cavaliers playoff game is tomorrow night.  Go Cavs, but will watch it, and have it up, by Tuesday.  What were your thoughts on tonight’s show?  Sound off and let me know.

Video:  Roman Reigns Vs Samoa Joe

Samoa Joe called Roman Reigns a failure, will this reignite Roman Reigns tonight?  This might be the first time Roman reigns is vulnerable, can Joe capitalize on that?  Roman Reigns has only beaten Joe one time in his entire career.  Who wins tonight?

Backlash Kick-Off:  Bayley Vs Ruby Riott

Backstage Segment:  The Miztourage

They are discussing future guys they can match up with.  The Miz shows up, he is very impressed with the mind games they are playing on Seth Rollins and Finn Balor.  He saw greatness from them since the day they were on the set of The Marine 5.  2 stage hands thought they can steal their chairs, and they showed them who they are.  The band is back together, which means they can help him win back his Intercontinental Championship from Seth Rollins, kicking off Backlash.  Dallas says they aren’t together with him, anymore.

Tonight:  Seth Rollins Vs The Miz

The Miz is one of the most decorated Intercontinental Champions of all-time.  Can he win back the title?

Video:  Carmella Vs Charlotte Flair

The IIconics join us at the panel.  Charlotte Flair is so 2000-never.  Billie Kay and Peyton Royce beat Asuka at her first SD Live match.  It was great.  Peyton is giving us an impression of Peter Rosenberg, which is great.  They are interested in tonight’s Women’s Title match.  Backlash maybe, could, possibly become IIconic.

Carmella is on a roll, can she find a way to win?  This will be her chance to prove if she is MONEY.

Backstage Segment:  Sasha Banks and Bayley

Bayley is ready to not be upset at Sasha, she wants her in Bayley’s corner.  Sasha refuses to do that, and Bayley said she can handle The Riott Squad on her own.  She was trying for Sasha to get her revenge on The Riott Squad, but so be it.  Sasha calls this spin, and says tonight, Bayley is on her own.

Tonight:  Lashley and Strowman Vs Kevin and Sami

Social Media Lounge:  Kurt Angle and Paige

Kurt, who is your dream opponent for today’s WWE Superstars?  Daniel Bryan, it would be awesome if it happens.

What is the hardest part of being a General Manager, and what did Paige think when Absolution came to Smackdown?  Seeing your friends come on to the brand, and equal opportunity to succeed.

Which match do they think will steal the show?  Paige looks forward to Nakamura Vs Styles and Carmella Vs Charlotte.  For Kurt, Nia Jax Vs Alexa, and Joe Vs Reigns

Backlash Kickoff Show Match Number 1:  Bayley Vs Ruby Riott

The Riott Squad had too many numbers as both Sarah and Liv got involved, Rudy hit her Riott Kick, and pinned Bayley.  No Sasha Banks, who was instead watching backstage.
