WWE Wrestlemania 34 Live From New Orleans, Louisiana

Sunday, April 8th, 2018

Commentators:  Michael Cole, Byron Saxton, Jonathan Coachman, Tom Phillips, and Corey Graves

If you missed last night’s NXT Takeover:  New Orleans, click here WWE NXT Takeover: New Orleans Live Report 4/7/18 (Almas Vs Black)

National Anthem:  Khloe and Halle

Match Number 1:  The Miz (IC Champ) Vs Finn Balor Vs Seth Rollins for WWE Intercontinental Championship in a Triple Threat Match

What a start to Wrestlemania, all 3 men worked hard on the match, and all hit their finishing moves.  But Seth Rollins nails a Curb Stomp to win the Intercontinental Championship, pinning The Miz to become a Grand Slam Champion.  What a moment.

Winner, and NEW IC Champion:  Seth Rollins, by pinfall

Match Number 2:  Charlotte Flair (SD Live Women’s Champ) Vs Asuka for the WWE SD Live Women’s Championship

Charlotte Flair is coming out to her father’s old school entrance music.  This is AWESOME!!

THE STREAK IS OVER!!  Charlotte came into this match as the underdog, and proved she is the best Woman Wrestler in the company.  She made Asuka tap out to the Figure Eight, and keeps her title, after escaping from an Asuka Lock herself.  Certainly did not expect this, but damn, this was a great match.  Asuka after the match demands Charlotte to face her, and she has the mic.  She says Charlotte was ready for Asuka.  They hug, with both women crying.

Winner, and STILL SD Live Women’s Champion:  Charlotte Flair, by submission

Rudy Charles runs to John Cena to say The Undertaker is here, and Cena runs to the back.

Match Number 3:  Randy Orton (US Champ) Vs Jinder Mahal Vs Bobby Roode Vs Rusev in a Fatal 4-Way For the WWE United States Championship

Well, this was the one decision I did not agree with tonight.  The world wanted Rusev to win.  Rusev wanted to win.  As did I, but we saw Jinder Mahal nail the Khallas, to win the United States Championship.

Winner, and NEW United States Champion:  Jinder Mahal, by pinfall

Match Number 4:  HHH and Stephanie McMahon Vs Kurt Angle and “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey in a Mixed Tag Team Match

This match far exceeded anything that any of us thought about.  This crowd was electric for the entire match.  Ronda showed she can sell, she has such strength, she picked up HHH ready to give him a Suplex, and it took 3 Armbars to get Stephanie McMahon to tap out in the middle of the ring.  Everything just clicked, and this certainly will make it through all of newspapers, TV shows, everything.  What a Wrestlemania moment for “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey.

Winners:  “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey and Kurt Angle, by submission

Match Number 5:  The Usos (SD Live Tag Team Champs) Vs The Bludgeon Brothers Vs The New Day for the SD Live Tag team Championship in a Triple Threat Match

The Bludgeon Brothers came in, conquered, and destroyed everyone in sight.  They nailed Kofi with a Powerslam, and pinned him to win the SD Live Tag Team Titles.

Winners, and NEW SD Live Tag Team Champions:  The Bludgeon Brothers, by pinfall

 In-Ring Segment:  John Cena

John Cena comes out, thinking he has a match, but another official informs him it won’t happen.  But the lights go out, and come right back on to show us.

In-Ring Concert:  Elias

Hello, I am Elias, and I need you to shut your mouth, and silence your cellphones.  But the fans were expecting someone else.  But that someone else doesn’t have the same amount of talent as Elias.  That someone else doesn’t have that same desire, and John if you thought this would be another walk in the park, not with Elias.  Back up John, I will take it from here.  In fact as I look out at the 75,000 cess of sea to watch and see me do what I do best.  Cena walks out, and heads back into the fans.  Elias can do what he does best, and make history.

A song about John Cena wanting to fight, this is Elias’ night.  John Cena sucks, cause he’s like all of you.  Cena had enough, so now he takes it out on Elias.  5 Knuckle Shuffle.  AA to Elias.  Cena’s music starts to play and Cena feels like he wasted his time.  The music stops, the lights go out.  The lights dim back, and we see Undertaker’s hat and jacket.  Lightning strikes, and it’s all gone.  Cena looks very nervous, as the lights go back off, and we hear….

Cena looks like he saw a ghost.  Here comes THE DEADMAN!!

Match Number 6:  The Undertaker Vs John Cena

Wow, Taker looks great after the hip surgery.  He even pulled off Old School, and this was a 2 minute squash, with Taker hitting The Tombstone, and pinning Cena.  There was even a moment where Cena thought he had Taker set up, with a 5 Knuckle Shuffle, but Taker sat right up, and nailed a Chokeslam.  Question is what happens tomorrow night on Raw?  Cena had a different, cocky look there.

Winner:  The Undertaker, by pinfall

Video:  WWE Hall of Fame Salute

Match Number 7:  Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon Vs Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn

This was interesting here.  Zayn and Owens attacked Shane and Daniel before the match started.  Putting Daniel out early, and Shane starting the match by himself.  Just recovering from Diverticulitis, Shane worked his ass off, while Daniel was being tended to by officials.  But Daniel made the tag, and worked the rest of the match, made Sami tap out to the Yes Lock, and wins the match.  Owens and Sami are still fired from Smackdown Live, so does that mean we will see them pop up on Raw tomorrow night?

Winners:  Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon, by submission

Wrestlemania 34 Attendance:  78,133

Match Number 8:  Alexa Bliss (Raw Women’s Champ) Vs Nia jax for the Raw Women’s Championship

Mickie James walked out with Alexa, but Nia took care of her right away, just so its Nia Vs Alexa one on one.  Alexa worked on Nia’s eyes, but Nia catches her with a Powerslam, then hits a Samoan Drop off the top rope to become the new Raw Women’s Champion.

Winner, and NEW Raw Women’s Champion:  Nia Jax, by pinfall

Match Number 9:  AJ Styles (WWE Champ) Vs Shinsuke Nakamura for the WWE Championship

Alice Cooper’s guitarist Nita Strauss played Shinsuke’s entrance theme tonight.  What a match this was showcasing the two best Wrestlers in WWE, doing what they do.  Back and forth match that saw the Champion retain his title, pinning Nakamura with the Styles Clash.  After the match the two embrace, and Shinsuke hands AJ the title, then gives Styles a low blow.  I think there will be a rematch down the road.  Shinsuke just turned heel here.  The crowd isn’t sure how to react to this, and quite frankly, neither do I.  This ends with a Kinsasha

Winner, and STILL WWE Champion:  AJ Styles, by pinfall

Match Number 10:  The Bar (Raw Tag Champs) Vs Braun Strowman and ?? for the WWE Raw Tag Team Championship

Braun’s tag team partner is a kid from the crowd.  Is he serious?  It’s Nicholas, the match is on.  Nicholas is now a Tag Team Champion, after he tagged in to Braun, got scared, and tagged right back into Braun, and Strowman took care of the rest, pinning Cesaro for the win.  This was Nicholas’ Wrestlemania moment.

Winners, and NEW Raw Tag Team Champions:  Braun Strowman and Nicholas, by pinfall

Match Number 11:  Brock Lesnar (WWE Universal Champ) Vs Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship

It took 6 trips to Suplex City, and 5 F-5’s, causing Roman to bleed with a hard shot to the head.  Roman seemed woken up with that hit, gives Lesnar 2 Spears, but Brock turned it around and nails Roman with a F-5 to pin him, and this completely stuns me.  The fans hated this match, and there is not much more you can say about that.

Winner, and STILL WWE Universal Champion:  Brock Lesnar, by pinfall

Kevin’s Thoughts:

5 hours is a very, very long time to keep the crowd going, and up until that end of Nakamura Vs Styles match where Shinsuke turned heel, WWE had them at every match.  But after that, they completely lost them, especially in the main event.  Just don’t know what else to say.  I thought Brock was done after tonight, we know damn sure he is heading to UFC.  So why have the guy that Vince wants to build as the franchise lose, and lose badly?  I guess times will tell tomorrow night on the Raw after Mania, which always is entertaining, and noteworthy.

To me, the match of the night belongs to the mix tag match.  I had a feeling Ronda would show well, but she surpassed my expectations, and kudos to Stephanie for taking that armbar.  Charlotte Vs Asuka was a great match too, and we also had that feel-good moment when Daniel Bryan was victorious.  I loved AJ Vs Shinsuke, I just don’t understand why they turned him heel.  I will have to give it a chance though, maybe in the long run it’s what’s best for him?  What were your thoughts on the show?  Share it with me.

WWE Wrestlemania 34 Kick-Off Show

Sunday, April 8th, 2018

Commentators:  Renee Young, Booker T, JBL, and David Otunga

Video:  Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon Vs Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn

4 years ago at this same city, Daniel Bryan started Wrestlemania 30, and ended it walking out as WWE Champion.  He had to retire 2 years later, and now Daniel is back in this ring, in this city, in this building.

Sam Roberts

Sam is outside, among the WWE Universe.  The fans are ready for Rusev Day.

John Cena is among the fans, taking selfies with the crowd.

Video:  AJ Styles Vs Shinsuke Nakamura

The dream match is set, we see it tonight, at Wrestlemania.  What kind of pressure does Shinsuke have?  This is his first Wrestlemania, and what kind of entrance will he make tonight?

Video:  Mixed Tag Match, Stephanie McMahon and HHH Vs Kurt Angle and “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey

This is an interesting story in a sense, they are playing off Ronda has never been inside a WWE ring, but Stephanie has never competed in a Wrestlemania match.  Who comes up on top?

Video:  Charlotte Flair Vs Asuka

Streak Vs Title, everything is on the line.  Who takes this one?

Carmella interrupts the talk, she is Ms. Money in the Bank.  Carmella is ready for tonight’s Women’s Battle Royal, but is she cashing in her briefcase?

WWE Wrestlemania 34 Kick-Off Match Number 1:  Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal

Commentators:  Jim Ross, Byron Saxton, and Jerry “The King” Lawler

The final 3 are Corbin, Rawley, and Matt Hardy.  Sadly, Elias is not in this match.  Corbin and Rawley are about to get rid of Hardy, but Bray Wyatt shows up.  I guess he is added to this match, and we see Hardy and Wyatt work together.  Rawley is thrown out.  So is Corbin.  It’s now Wyatt and Hardy.  But Matt Hardy is now revealed as the winner.  I guess Wyatt was just helping him.  Hardy thanks Bray for the help, and Wyatt gives him a big hug.  Interesting here to see.

Winner of Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal:  Matt Hardy

Hour 1 is done, with hour number 2 on the way.

Peter Rosenberg joins the panel now.  And the entire world is safe now that Peter is here.

Sam Roberts is now finally inside the arena.

WWE Wrestlemania 34 Kick-Off Show Match Number 2:  Cedric Alexander Vs Mustafa Ali in a Finals Match For Cruiserweight Championship

Commentators:  Vic Joseph and Nigel McGuiness

This was a good match here, and the story featured Heart Vs Soul.  There was a sick bump with Ali landing onto the mat, and moved out of the ring.  John Cena was watching on, we saw the 0-5-4, bu Cedric kicked out.  Cedric nailed 3 elbow drops, but finished it with a Lumbar Check, Cedric Alexander is the new Cruiserweight Champion.

Winner, and NEW Cruiserweight Champion:  Cedric Alexander, by pinfall

Tonight:  Triple Threat Match for Intercontinental Championship

Can The Miz walk out as IC Champion?  Is this Seth Rollins night?  Finn Balor?

In-Ring Interview:  John Cena

Charly Caruso is with Cena, John is psyched for tonight’s show, and he sounds drunk.  He is in the Cena Section.

Wrestlemania 34 Rundown for tonight.

Wrestlemania 34 Kick-Off Show Match Number 3:  Women’s Battle Royal

Commentators:  Michael Cole, Beth Phoenix, Paige, and Corey Graves

Special Guest Ring Announcer:  Lilian Garcia

Women from NXT competed, and rounded out the 20 women.  The final five here are Bayley and Sasha Vs The Riott Squad.  Final 3 are Sasha, Bayley, and Sarah Logan, down to Sasha and Bayley.  They both get their Wrestlemania moment.  Sasha wants to shake Bayley’s hand, she takes it, but throws Sasha out of the ring.  Naomi shows us she was never thrown over the top rope, and Bayley is up set about this, but Naomi throws Bayley over the top rope, to win the match.

Winner of Women’s Battle Royal:  Naomi

Video:  Brock Lesnar Vs Roman Reigns

This has to be Roman reigns night, but Brock Lesnar sustained 5 Superman Punches last week on Raw.  And it took one F-5 to knock Roman down.  He has to counter that, will he?  Wrestlemania is next.
