In-Ring Promo:  Roman Reigns

After all of the attacks, after all this talk, after all this hype, you would think Samoa Joe was ready for him.  But he wasn’t, because after everything was done, Samoa Joe was not ready for him.  It’s not that Reigns is better, he was fighting for his brother, Dean Ambrose.  And this goes out to the boys in the back, if you mess with one brother, you will mess with every one of them.  But that was last week, and this is this week….

Here comes Jason Jordan, he is touched that Roman would think of him.  When he watched Reigns last week against Joe, he had goosebumps, for the first time, he feels meaningful.  And on behalf of his Tag Team partner Seth Rollins, Roman proved this is his yard, and he just wants to say thank you.  Jason held out his fist.

Burn it down….

Seth comes out, says Jason still has a lot to learn, now he knows he means well, but he is stepping on Roman’s moment.  Jason said this involved all of them, because they have had issues with Samoa Joe.  And they took care of The Bar in the first night, they are all champions, and they run this show.  Roman said he is partners with Rollins, but he is The Guy, so this isn’t all about them.  Jason said they run this show, they could be the most dominant 3 man group, they can beat 1 team, 2 teams, 3 teams, it doesn’t matter.

Now here comes The Club.  Balor questions Jason being a part of the most dominant 3 men group.  Balor has run with Gallows and Anderson for 10 years, longer than Jason had known who his daddy is.  Gallows and Anderson said they stood alone when they first came to WWE.  He and Anderson won the Raw Tag Team Championship, and Balor made history.  He won the first ever Universal Championship, too sweet.  Anderson knew there would come a time when they take things over.  And that started last Monday, so they are excited.  2018 is the year of The Balor Club.  Jason said he is happy to be a part of Champions Club.  Is that the cute new nickname for this, because they don’t see “The Lunatic Fringe” here, he sees The Architect.  He sees The Big Dog, and he sees, what is that new name for him?  Nerd.  Jordan slaps Gallows, and here comes Kurt Angle.  Kurt said we have a great show ahead of time, we have Brock Lesnar and the return of The Miz, but he needs a main event, how about a 6-man tag match of the Champions Vs The Good friends,.  So it’s official.

Tonight:  Miz TV

Next:  Bayley and Sasha Banks in action

Match Number 1:  Bayley and Sasha Banks Vs Sonja Deville and Mandy Rose

This was a good match here, I am a big fan of Absolution, so this was a test with Sonja and Mandy being in the ring with Sasha and Bayley.  Sasha catches Mandy in the Bank Statement, picking up the win.

Winners:  Sasha Banks and Bayley, by submission

Tonight:  6-Man Tag Match

Goldust checks in on Cedric, wearing “Mickey’s” hat from Rocky.  Cedric doesn’t need the pep talk.  He has been dreaming about this since he was 5 years old.  People laughed at him, but he can see that dream standing in front of him.  Goldust tells Cedric he is control of his dream, not anyone else.

Video:  Goldust and Alicia Fox a part of Mix Match Challenge

Curt Hawkins streak continues, Matt puts him away with the DDT.  After the match, Bray Wyatt shows up, and the two have a laughing contest.

In-Ring Concert:  Elias

Hello, I am Elias.  And I have one question for everyone here tonight.  Who wants to walk with Elias?  Now I have walked across this earth.  Been through the mountains, been through the land, and I have heard many stories.  But there is one truth, WWE stands for We Want Elias.  Today is a special day, and he knows Memphis is the perfect place to play this song.  So silence your phones, and shut your mouths.  It’s January 8th, it’s Elvis Presley’s birthday.  But Elias doesn’t even care about Elvis.  He is here to welcome The Miz, classic song.

In-Ring Promo:  Miz TV

The crowd missed Miz, and so did I.  Welcome to the most-see Raw Talk Show, welcome to Miz TV.  The Marine 6 is completed, visit the troops is complete, and he is back on Raw.  But 2 people represented The Miz, and those 2 men are Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas.  They turned their careers around in 2017.  Bo and Curtis thank The Miz for believing in them, and we get a Thank You Miz chant.  Bo gave Miz a frame photo of The Miz, and Curtis gave him a brand new sports coat/  Bo got The Miz an awesome watch, Curtis offers him his shoes.  Miz says when his hand goes up, their mouths goes shut.

2017 was an incredible year for The Miz, but he a lot more planned.  In 2017, he held the IC Title for 200 days, he turned Bo and Curtis’ career.  He was Rolling Stone’s Wrestler of the Year.  But he won’t forget this.

Video:  The Shield Taking Out The Miz 2 Months Ago

What you just witnessed was an indignity, something that happened to him, and he allowed Roman Reigns to borrow the Intercontinental Championship.  He did it because he wanted the IC Title to be bigger than himself, and we all know the person makes the championship.  In 2018, he will be the longest reigning Intercontinental Champion.  He will go on record as the greatest IC Champion of all-time, better than The Ultimate Warrior, better than Shawn Michaels.  Roman Reigns, your time is up, he is gunning for that championship, and will win it back.  You can believe that.

Backstage Segment:  The Club

Balor wants to make new memories with Gallows and Anderson.  The situation may be different, but the tactics remain the same.  Tonight, they have a real opportunity to make 2018 be The Year of Balor Club.  2 Sweet for that.

Tonight:  Brock Lesnar Responds

Next:  Cruiserweight Championship

Match Number 3:  Enzo Amore (Cruiserweight Champ) Vs Cedric Alexander, for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship

Cedric picks up the win with a count out, but Enzo seemed to hurt his ankle, and he was cut open.  Enzo keeps his title, and Cedric will get another shot down the road.

Winner:  Cedric Alexander, by pinfall (Enzo retains Cruiserweight Title)

Tonight:  6-Man Tag Match

2 Weeks:  Raw’s 25th Anniversary

Moments Ago:  Alexander Vs Amore

Backstage Segment:  Enzo Amore

Nia checks on Enzo, he assures her he is good, but he does not appear to be.

Backstage Segment:  Kurt and The Bar

Kurt wants to put this superstar in the Women’s Royal Rumble.  The Bar wants their rematch, and calls Kurt scared to put his son in the match with them.  Kurt tells them they will get their shots at Royal Rumble.  They want some competition, and Kurt tells them he has them.  The Miz comes back.  Do you know who you’re talking to?  Network executives hung on every word The Miz had to say, he has a new reality TV show coming up, and he knows how to run a show.  The Miz wants his IC Title rematch against Roman Reigns at the 25th Anniversary of Raw.  Kurt likes that.

Earlier Today:  Mixed Match Challenge

The Miz finds out his partner for the challenge is Asuka.

Backstage Segment:  Asuka and Alexa Bliss

Alexa tells her she won last week, but that luck is about to run out.  If her best friend Nia hears what Asuka said about her, she wouldn’t want to be her.

Royal Rumble:  Rollins and Jordan Vs The Bar

Match Number 4:  The Bar Vs Titus Worldwide

In a bit of an upset here, Titus Worldwide picked up the win, when Titus rolls up Sheamus.

Winners:  Titus Worldwide, by pinfall

Next:  Brock Lesnar Responds

Last Monday:  Kane Vs Lesnar

In-Ring Promo:  Brock Lesnar

Ladies and gentlemen, my name is Paul Heyman.  And I am the advocate to the reigning, and defending WWE Universal Champion, BROCK LESNAR!!  There is a code called Old School.  Something that my client and myself have a ton of respect for, but the product needs fresh, new ideas, for the public worldwide.  But having said that, you have to forgive me for being something of a hypocrite, because we have taken back some of that old school way, and it has set back this business.  There was an old school way of finding a new challenger, someone who can say I can take care of the baddest man on the planet.  And you can build that challenger to make the product feel special.  And you can say it weakens the Universal Championship in such a manner, his client is against it, we have gotten away from that school of thought,.  But now, it’s rather how can we drift away from that, and stack the deck against Brock Lesnar?  So now it isn’t who is the person that can beat Brock, its how can we stack the deck against Brock, so he can lose the title, without being beaten?  Because last week Kane tried to give Brock everything he had, and Brock just laughed it off.  Because this is The Ultimate Fighter, he is the ultimate opponent, and he is the baddest man on the planet, the reigning, and defending Universal Champion, Brock Lesnar.

Brock stands at the ramp, and here comes Kane, attacking him from behind.  We take this to the back, and Braun Strowman gets involved taking them both out with a table.  Braun has a cord, and flings the lighting fixture on top of both Kane and Brock, standing tall.

Moments Ago:  Strowman Taking Out Brock and Kane

Brock is wheeled out in an EMT, and Kane stumbles away.

Match Number 5:  Samoa Joe Vs Rhyno

Joe slaps on The Koquina Clutch for the easy victory.

Winner:  Samoa Joe, by submission

In-Ring Interview:  Samoa Joe

Charly asks Joe about his loss last week, and Joe corrects her saying he did not lose, Roman had an apparent victory.  He took years from his career, it’s just a matter of time, and when that moment comes, Joe will be ready to take Roman’s career away.  But first, he will enter the 30 Man Royal Rumble match, and will eliminate 29 other superstars.  Charly asks how Joe will fare against the likes of Randy Orton, Shinsuke Nakamura, John Cena.  Joe stops her right there, and says Cena is a very familiar name with his career.  John Cena will be the first person he eliminates.

Backstage Segment:  Alexa Bliss and Nia Jax

Alexa asks how Enzo is doing, and Nia says Enzo is doing fine, and he inspires her to be champion, so she has entered the 30 Women Royal Rumble match.  Alexa is good with that, saying she is her favorite to win, but Asuka said some stuff about Nia.  Nia wants to know what she said, she refuses to tell her.  But she whispers what it is, and Nia asks Alexa if she speaks Japanese, because Asuka does not speak English.

Match Number 6:  Asuka Vs Another Woman

The match never takes place, because Nia Jax took out Asuka.

Winner:  No Contest

Royal Rumble Rundown

Next:  Jordan, Rollins, and Reigns Vs The Balor Club

Next Week:  Asuka Vs Nia Jax

Match Number 7:  Roman Reigns (IC Champ), Seth Rollins and Jason Jordan (Raw Tag Champs) Vs The Balor Club

Jason Jordan’s inexperience got the best of the team, he prevented the tag of Seth to Roman, he stood in the way of Rollins, so Balor can hit a splash, and Coup De Grace for the win.  After the match Reigns argues with Jordan, and The Miztourage attack all 3 men, nailing Skull Crushing Finale and a Triple Powerbomb, ending the show.

Winners:  The Balor Club, by pinfall

Kevin’s Thoughts:

They are building the 25th anniversary show perfectly.  The Miz Vs Reigns is going to be a fun match.  And combined with seeing the people who paved the way for Raw, it will be a fun show.  Then there is the Rumble match.  Joe bringing up Cena’s name is very interesting, since they started in the business together.  It makes me think they will be Wrestlemania opponents, and that is huge news for Joe.  What were your thoughts on the show?  Send me your thoughts here.  Tonight was a fun show, and they are gearing toward a big week in 2 weeks.
