In-Ring Promo:  Daniel Bryan

It’s great to be back here in Chicago.  Now last week was a roller coaster edition of Smackdown Live.  As we take a look at the end of 2017, one of the shocking events took place, take a look.  We see Dolph Ziggler walking away without the United States Title.  Daniel has been trying to call Dolph Ziggler all week, and he hasn’t answered his telephone, or text messages.  Therefore, Ziggler has relinquished the United States Title.  Dolph if you’re watching, everyone will miss you.  On a personal note, Dolph is one of the all-time greats.  He and Shane are proud to have the United States Title, and we will have a tournament.  And it starts tonight.  In one of the first round matches, we will have former United States Champion Baron Corbin taking on Bobby Roode.  And we will also have…..

Shelton Benjamin and Chad Gable show up.  Chad wants to know what he is going to do with the Tag Team Division.  Daniel asked didn’t they receive a Tag Team Title match 2 weeks ago?  Yes, but they put 2 other teams in too.  Why were The New Day involved?  Why was Rusev and Aidan English involved?  Last week, they pinned the Tag Team Champs, and have proven they can beat them.

Here com,es Aidan and Rusev.  Aidan tells us they beat the champs 2 weeks ago, and at the Clash, did they lose?  Nooooo.  3.  Listen, you don’t want to miss this, Rusev, you know what comes the day after Christmas.  Rusev Day!!  Chad answered it’s Boxing Day.  No you fool, it’s Rusev Day.

OHHHHHHH Chi-Town, DON’T YOU DARE BE SOUR, CLAP FOR YOU WORLD FAMOUS 4-TIME CHAMPS.  IT’S A NEW DAY, YES IT IS!!  Daniel, all of these other teams are out here wasting your time.  If you want to find out who the Number One Contenders, all you have to do is take the Kofi Kingston true/false challenge,  Did the team of Chad Gable and Jason Jordan, I mean Shelton Benjamin take the loss last week?  True.  Did the oddly charismatic team of Rusev and Aidan English take the loss against your boys last week?  True.  And who can beat The Usos?  True, it’s very simple, your boys The New Day needs to be the Number One Contenders.  Rusev orders for Daniel to make his mind, or will he ask his mommy Shane McMahon?  Daniel orders a Triple Threat match to determine Number One Contenders to SD Live Tag Team Championship.

Match Number 1:  The New Day Vs Rusev and Aidan English Vs Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin in a Triple Threat Match for Number One Contenders in SD Live Tag Team Titles

This was a great match here were all three men worked hard.  The first hour was commercial free, so this is what made the match stand out more.  Chad and Shelton pick up the win when they nail a Cross Body Check, Gable pins Big E.  Next week, the Tag Team Titles are on the line with The Usos Vs Gable and Benjamin.

Winners, and Number One Contenders:  Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin, by pinfall

Backstage Segment:  Shane and Daniel

Shane brings up what Daniel said last week, about calling Shane his dad.  Now while he is a ruthless man, give them his due, he has built this company from the ground up.  But at the end of the day, he is his father.  Daniel never meant to undermine Vince, but Shane has been acting a bit like him, using poor judgment.  Shane questions Daniel’s ideas with the United States Title Tournament.  Baron Corbin deserves a rematch, so just put Corbin in with Roode, winner becomes United States Champion.  Daniel talks about this being the land of opportunity, and more of the superstars deserve that.  Okay, so how about the main event.  Putting Kevin Owens in against AJ Styles.  Now it is a non-title match, but does Kevin deserve a match like that?  And you didn’t ban Sami Zayn, so you know he will be there.  Daniel brings up Styles Vs Owens was one of the greatest feuds of the year, so why not end 2017 with a bang?

Tonight:  Naomi Vs Ruby Riott

Tonight:  Baron Corbin Vs Bobby Roode in a First Round Match of United States Title Tournament

Match Number 2:  The Bludgeon Brothers Vs Breezango

The Bludgeon Brothers took care of Breezango, but The Ascension causes the DQ loss to Breezango, and we see them saving Breezango.

Next:  Naomi Vs Ruby Riott

Backstage Interview:  Breezango

Dasha tries to get a word from Breezango, but The Ascension answer, saying they are not in the right frame of mind for an interview, but next week, they are challenging The Bludgeon Brothers to a match, and will send them to The Wasteland.

Video:  Women’s Royal Rumble Match

Match Number 3:  Naomi Vs Ruby Riott

The Riott Squad gave a little assist, but Ruby wins with a Ruby Kick.

Winner:  Ruby Riott, by pinfall

The Riott Squad starts to take out Naomi, but here comes Charlotte.  The numbers game take over, and The Riott Squad take them both out.  But here comes Natalya, Tamina, Lana, and Carmella.  The Riott Squad starts to walk away, but it met by the other 4 women, The Riott Squad run away,

Backstage Interview:  AJ Styles

Renee Young is with the WWE Champion, 2017 was one of AJ’s greatest years.  How does he feel going into his match with Owens tonight?  AJ suggests Shane accusing Daniel playing favorites?  He doesn’t know that to be true, but he knows this, everyone that faces AJ is the underdog, and tonight is no different.  With Sami Zayn, or no Sami Zayn.  This is the house that AJ Styles built, and none of that will change.

Match Number 4:  Baron Corbin Vs Bobby Roode in a first round match of United States Title Tournament

Roode finds a way to move on to the tournament, with a rollup, pinning Corbin.  A good match here.

Winner, and Advances To Semi-Final:  Bobby Roode, by pinfall

Next:  Jinder Mahal Vs Tye Dillinger in First Round of US Title Tournament.

Match Number 5:  Jinder Mahal Vs Tye Dillinger in First Round to United States Title Tournament

Dillinger tried, but Jinder was just too strong, and vicious.  Khallas did him in.

Winner, and advances to United States Title Tournament:  Jinder Mahal, by pinfall

Backstage Interview:  Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn

Dasha interviews Kevin Owens, who has some champagne, ready for tonight’s main event.  The last time Owens faced AJ in the ring, a certain McMahon was the special guest referee, and he did whatever he could do to have Kevin lose.  That won’t happen tonight, because Kevin has an angel on his side, with Sami Zayn.  And after the match, they will celebrate with the champaigne, have a private party, just between Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn.  Yup

Backstage Interview:  Randy Orton

Randy cuts Renee off, saying from now on he is going to worry about himself, and he is officially entered in the Royal Rumble.  Shinsuke appears, and he says let’s be ready to rumble, or something like that.

Match Number 6:  AJ Styles (WWE Champ) Vs Kevin Owens in a non-title match

Sami Zayn was interfering in the match, Shane McMahon came out, ordered the ref to throw him out of the ring, but this allowed the ref to turn his back, AJ had the pin, but no ref.  Owens then rolls AJ, holds on to the tights for the win.  After the match, Styles looked at Shane after Shane apologized.  We end the show with Kevin and Sami celebrating in the ring.

Winner:  Kevin Owens, by pinfall

Kevin’s Thoughts:

This was a good show here, and they gave us a special hour with the commercial-free.  The Triple Threat match and the main event were the highlights of the show.  A very good way to end 2017, what were your thoughts of the show?  Send them to me, and I hope you have a joyous New Year.  May 2018 be better than 2017.
