Tonight:  AJ Styles Vs Kevin Owens for United States Championship and John Cena Vs Shinsuke Nakamura With Summerslam Implications

Match Number 1:  AJ Styles (WWE US Champ) Vs Kevin Owens for the WWE United States Championship

A great way to start Smackdown Live, but we had some controversy here.  The referee was knocked in the eye, Kevin set up AJ with a Pop-Up Powerbomb, and AJ reverses it with a roll up, and AJ retains his title.  But Owens’ shoulder was up the entire time, but the ref counted to 3.  Kevin is beside himself.

Winner, and STILL WWE United States Champion:  AJ Styles, by pinfall

Backstage Segment:  Kevin Owens, Shane McMahon, and Daniel Bryan

Shane and Daniel try to console Mike Chiotta, but also tells him he messed up.  Kevin Owens comes in, and tears things up.  Shane tells him he will get a United States Title match at Summerslam.  Owens wants a strong referee, someone who won’t fall down when the wind blows.  Daniel has a great idea, how about Shane being the special referee.  Owens is irate about that, but Shane makes it final.

Tonight:  John Cena Vs Shinsuke Nakamura

Tonight:  Breezango

Last Week:  The Usos attack The New Day.

In-Ring Promo:  The Usos

The Usos pose as New Day with their introduction.  The Usos mean business, and New Day is not here tonight, because of them.  The Usos tell New Day they can keep their colors, their unicorns, but they are taking their Tag team Titles, and their catchphrases, because The Usos Rocks!!

Video:  Fashion Peaks

Someone, or something kidnapped Fandango.  But who?  The lights go out again, Fandango is dancing, The Ascension is pouring honey into a board, and Viktor is giving Fandango a rose.  They just keep laughing, with Fandango screaming out no more metaphors.  And this was a dream.  Breezy knows who kidnapped Fandango now.  To be continued.

Match Number 2:  Sami Zayn Vs Aidan English

Aidan picks up another victory here, rolling up Sami Zayn for the win.  Maria and Mike Kanellis show up.  It’s a fact they love each other, and they love that Sami lost.

Winner:  Aidan English, by pinfall

Match Number 3:  Naomi (SD Live Woman’s Champ) and Becky Lynch Vs Carmella and Natalya

This was such a short match here, but the story being Natalya and Carmella couldn’t get along, Nattie had Naomi beat, but Carmella nailed a Code of Silence, but Naomi reversed it, and made Carmella tap out to the Front Face Crossface.

Winners:  Naomi and Becky Lynch, by submission

Backstage Interview:  Jinder Mahal

Renee Young is with Jinder and The Singh Brothers.  Jinder has no preference of who he faces at Summerslam.  “The Modern Day Maharaja” will still prevail.  Either against the man from Japan, or the man from America, he will take them all on.

Next:  Rusev in action

Match Number 4:  Rusev Vs Chad Gable

This was a fun match here, and we had glimpses of Chad Gable’s brilliance in the ring.  Rusev wins by slapping on The Accolade, making Chad tap.

Winner:  Rusev, by submission

Rusev said that when he got to Smackdown Live, they promised him competition, and they gave him John Cena.  Yeah, he waved his flag around, big deal.  But he never pinned him.  Nobody can pin Rusev, now he doesn’t have a Summerslam match because guys are afraid of Rusev.  Machka Rusev….and here comes Randy Orton.  Rusev won’t allow Orton to come into the ring, but Randy has the mic.  If Orton was Rusev, he wouldn’t want him to get in the ring either.  Rusev backs up, daring Randy to get into the ring.  You’ve never beaten Orton, and Randy isn’t afraid of Rusev either.  If you want an opponent at Summerslam, look no further, you have one right here.  Rusev speaks Bulgarian, and Orton nails a RKO.

Earlier Tonight:  KO and AJ Styles

Summerslam:  AJ Styles Vs Kevin Owens for United States Title, with Shane McMahon as Special Ref.

Summerslam:  Randy Orton Vs Rusev

Match Number 5:  John Cena Vs Shinsuke Nakamura

Jinder Mahal was at the sky box, watching this match.  Such a great one too, Shinsuke Nakamura shocked the world, by pinning Cena with Kinsasha, after 2 AA’s, one of which Shinsuke kicked out.  The other one, Cena immediately went for another one, but Nakamura countered with a German Suplex that landed right on Cena’s head.  But after the match, Cena shook Nakamura’s hand, and raised it in celebration.  Jinder looks on as Shinsuke Nakamura is his Summerslam opponent.  The show ends here.

Winner, and NEW Number One Contender to WWE Title:  Shinsuke Nakamura, by pinfall

Kevin’s Thoughts:

The 2 big matches delivered in every way.  And everything else in between was very good too, especially the Orton-Rusev segment.  Smackdown Live was a million times better this week than Raw.  Creative team needs to compare notes.  What did you think of the show?  Send me your thoughts here, and a big shoutout to ForeverReubuilding.com very own Anthony Joki.  He was there live, and had a great time.
