WWE Monday Night Raw Live From London, England

Monday, May 8th, 2017

Commentators:  Michael Cole, Booker T, and Corey Graves

Backstage Segment:  Dean Ambrose

Dean receives a phone call from Kurt Angle.  Dean has a message to deliver in the ring.  We are in London, England tonight.  Dean just got off the phone with Kurt Angle.  And unfortunately Kurt is not here tonight.  But fortunately, Kurt trusts Dean, and he has named “The Lunatic Fringe” as the acting General Manager of Raw tonight.  Which means this is his show, and on his show, they don’t do any talking.  Awesome….here comes The Miz and Maryse.  Kurt Angle named Dean Ambrose acting Raw General Manager, and the fans approve this?  You do understand Raw will be total chaos tonight.  You would be better off-putting names in a hat, and just randomly select opponents.  Dean has a great idea for the show tonight, and Miz informs Dean he heard from Stephanie McMahon.  She knows about Kurt’s absence, and knows if Dean runs the show, this would be the final episode of Raw.  She named a co-Raw acting General Manager, and that man is The Miz, and he’s AWESOME!!  Dean said they can be Co-GMs tonight, but at Extreme Rules, they will face off for the IC Title, and remain IC Champion.  The Miz reminds Dean that he beat Seth “Freaking” Rollins and Finn Balor in the same match, and Dean asked him if he did it by himself, but admits The Miz is the Number One Contender, and wants to shake his hand.

Braun doesn’t care who is in charge, he will get what he wants.  He took out “The Big Dog” at Payback.  But as long as Roman Reigns can still walk, he isn’t finished with him.  So Dean calls Kurt Angle, he calls Stephanie McMahon, and Dean needs to tell them he will end Roman Reigns.  And when he is finished with him, Braun wants Brock Lesnar.  He heard people talk about Brock last week, but he is the first one….and here comes Kalisto.  Braun may not be done with Roman Reigns, but Kalisto isn’t done with Braun.  Let him remind him what happened a few weeks ago, he beat Braun, and Strowman couldn’t handle that, so he threw him out into the dumpster.  Nobody treats him like he’s garbage.  Braun said Kalisto won on a technicality, and can’t handle Braun.  He even can beat Kalisto with one arm, so Dean makes that match tonight.  Braun is irate about this, and The Miz told him he just ruined Kalisto’s career.  Dean has an idea for our first match, The Miz Vs Finn Balor, and that match is next.

Match Number 1:  The Miz Vs Finn Balor

The Miz rewarded him the win by DQ, when Finn put his hands on the ref, accidentally, and the ref called for the bell.  But Dean Ambrose came back out saying there are no DQs, when he is running the show and orders this match to be restarted.  So Finn sent Miz back into the ring, and nails a Coup De Gras for the win.

Winner:  Finn Balor, by pinfall

Tonight:  Braun Strowman Vs Kalisto

Backstage Segment:  Alexa Bliss and Nia Jax

Nia wants to know what Alexa meant by last week when she said she was the most gifted woman’s athlete, and she said of course she did.  So how about giving her a title match after she takes care of Bayley?  She would, but she doesn’t make matches, Kurt Angle does and she will talk to him next week.  So until then, Nia says, you just found yourself a new best friend.  I guess I did, said Alexa.

Match Number 2:  Alexa Bliss (Raw Woman’s Champ) Vs Mickie James in a non-title match

To counter Nia Jax, Mickie brought in Bayley, and the result was Alexa picking up the win with a Cross Body.  Bayley goes running after Alexa, and Nia is left alone with Mickie, to which Nia laid out Mickie.

Winner:  Alexa Bliss, by pinfall

Backstage Segment:  The Miz and Dean Ambrose

Dean Ambrose goes over the show with Miz, he has most of the show planned.  Miz talks about having a Miz TV, with one of his guests being one of the guys from One Direction.  Ambrose wants more action, so Miz books Ambrose Vs Bray Wyatt, tonight.

Tale of the Tape:  Braun Strowman Vs Kalisto, next

Backstage Promo:  Samoa Joe

Charly Caruso is with Joe, and she wants to talk about last week, but Joe brings up Payback, where “The King Slayer” survived, and got lucky.  Then the next night, he challenges Brock Lesnar for the Universal Title?  This isn’t over until Joe says it’s over.  He will break every bone, and Seth attacks Joe, and Michael Cole no-sells  this, and brings up our next match.

Match Number 3:  Braun Strowman Vs Kalisto

Braun refuses to face Kalisto, he has a sore arm, and wants to be clear and ready to go when Roman comes back, so he can end him once and for all.  Braun lays out Kalisto, and here comes Roman Reigns.  Nails 3 Superman Punches to get Braun down, but Braun has an answer, and both men beat the hell out of each other.  But Roman uses a chair, sending Braun out of the arena, with “The Big Dog” standing tall.

Winner:  No Contest

Tonight:  Seth Rollins Vs Samoa Joe

Backstage Segment:  The Golden Truth

Goldust tells Truth tonight is a big night together, because Kurt was right their win/loss record was not good the last year.  They need to be on the same page here, and show the world what the two can do together.

Next:  Tag Team Turmoil To Determine Number One Contenders to Tag Titles

Moments Ago:  Braun Strowman Vs Roman Reigns

Match Number 4:  Tag Team Turmoil Match To Determine New Number One Contenders to Raw Tag Team Titles

Sheamus and Cesaro started off with Enzo and Cass.  They made Enzo tap out to The Sharpshooter.  Sheamus and Cesaro take care of Rhyno and Heath Slater with a Brogue Kick.  Sheamus pins Gallows with a Brogue Kick.  The Golden Truth are out last.  Cesaro and Sheamus run the gauntlet, when Cesaro pins Goldust after Goldust rams his head into the steel post.

Winners, and Number One Contenders to Raw Tag Titles:  Sheamus and Cesaro, by pinfall

Cesaro and Sheamus take out The Golden Truth, but here come The Hardy Boyz, but the Number One Contenders roll out of the ring.

Tonight:  Dean Ambrose Vs Bray Wyatt

Match Number 6:  TJP Vs Jack Gallagher

Earlier on Facebook Live, Neville challenged TJP to make a statement win, and he might grant him a title shot for the Cruiserweight Title.  TJP picks up the win, rolling and hooking the tights.  Does TJP get a title match?  Before TJP can injure “The Gentleman”, Austin Aries comes out, and helps him.

Winner:  TJP by pinfall

Next:  Sasha Banks in action

Match Number 7:  Sasha Banks Vs Alicia Fox

Sasha Banks picks up the win with a Double Knee pin.

Winner:  Sasha Banks, by pinfall

Next:  Ambrose Vs Wyatt

Match Number 8:  Dean Ambrose (IC Champ) Vs Bray Wyatt in a non-title match

Bray picks up the win after The Miz nails Ambrose with the IC Title, and Wyatt hits Sister Abigail.  After the match, The Miz lays him out a few times, and grabs the mic to tell the world next week we will see a new Intercontinental Champion, and he will be AWESOME!!  The show ends here.

Winner:  Bray Wyatt, by pinfall

Kevin’s Thoughts:

For the most part, this felt like a PPV, with some big matches and big moments.  Didn’t like the middle of hour 3 though, but overall, it was a good mix of action, and the talking though minimal, meant something.  Looking forward to seeing next week’s IC Title match to see where we go from here.  Can The Miz make history, and be a 7-time IC Champ?  What were your thoughts on the show?  Sound off here.
