WWE Smackdown Live From Memphis, Tennessee

Tuesday, January 17th, 2017

Commentators:  Mauro Ranallo, David Otunga, Tom Phillips, and JBL

Tonight:  Alexa Bliss Vs Becky Lynch for Smackdown Women’s Title Inside A Steel Cage

Segment Number 1:  Shane McMahon Promo

What’s up Memphis, we are 2 weeks away from Royal Rumble, where 30 men will participate in the Royal Rumble, to determine who main events Wrestlemania.  But the WWE Champion will have a detour, because 4 weeks from now, the WWE World Champion will defend his title inside The Elimination Chamber.  He will compete against 5 other superstars inside that chamber, and here comes AJ Styles.  Really Shane?  You mean when he does what he does best at Royal Rumble, which is BEAT UP JOHN CENA!!  He’s going to have him defend his title inside The Elimination Chamber.  Shane confirmed yes, but that us if he wins at Rumble.  Or it will be the man vying to tie the 16-time World Champion….WOOOOO.  Over my dead body, as AJ said.  This is just a hot decision, perhaps he needs to consult the champ before he makes these decisions.  With all due respect AJ, Shane runs this show, the only one he consulted with is Daniel Bryan.  They want a chance for people to prove they are the best.  And AJ, Shane admits AJ is one of the best.  In one years time, he showed that he truly is Phenomenal.  The only thing that is not is AJ’s attitude.  How about AJ take his title, and go back to Japan, and never come back?  Styles has never been in an Elimination Chamber match, so now he has to defend the title in a barbaric match?  Here comes “Big Match” John.

AJ tells John to shut up, he doesn’t get to say anything when his brother-in-law gives him a match.  And Shane putting him in a match like this 2 weeks after Royal Rumble is just stupid.  And the fans don’t care about The Champ, so we all can shut up.  Who’s next to interrupt The Champ?  AWESOME!!

The Miz comes out to say consider his spotlight stolen.  And Shane putting The Miz in an Elimination Chamber match is a very good beginning to 2017.  Because he will get his rematch against Dean Ambrose, and win back the Intercontinental Championship.  Then, he will win the Royal Rumble to main event Wrestlemania.  He will win the WWE World Title, and hold on to both belts, giving them both more meaning than any other champions have before.  Are you delusional?  AJ asked, saying The Miz does a good job, dressing nice, and looking good right next to his wife.  But he is best suited for Hollywood, and not in the ring with AJ.  Miz said before AJ as he says “BEAT UP JOHN CENA”, he was in Japan, while The Miz beat John Cena at Wrestlemania.  He was beating John Cena before beating John Cena was cool.  The Miz brought the IC Title to the prestigious level as it is now, higher than Daniel Bryan ever had it, better than Dean Ambrose.  When people are talking about Smackdown Live, they aren’t talking about the WWE World Title, they are talking about The Intercontinental Title.

Cena now plays it in Styles’ head that The Miz just said he was better than AJ.  And AJ falls for it.  Let me remind you the last time we were in Memphis, I knocked your teeth out.  I’m surprised that you don’t perform with a limp, or does he Maryse?

Oh snap, Cena is loving this.  Are you going to let him talk to you like that?  Step up bro.  And now both men are in each other’s faces, and Shane says let’s make this match now.  AJ Styles Vs The Miz.

Tonight:  King’s Court with Dolph Ziggler

Segment Number 2:  Ambrose and Shane backstage

Before our match starts, we see a backstage segment with Dean and Shane.  Ambrose needs a new title, it smells like cucumber, gel.  There is only one title.  Ambrose wants retribution with The Wyatts.  Ambrose wants Orton, just for fun.  Orton Vs Ambrose, tonight.

Match Number 1:  AJ Styles (WWE World Champ) Vs The Miz in a Non-Title Match

Styles gets DQ’d throwing Miz into Cena.  But Cena blocks it off like Superman.  He went after AJ, who ran out of the ring, Miz attacks Cena.  But John hits an AA on Miz, and Styles tries to attack Cena, but he turned it around on an AA too.

Winner:  The Miz, by DQ

Tonight:  Steel Cage Match for Women’s Title

Segment Number 4:  Nikki Bella

Last week, she and Nattie just was getting started, so tonight they will finish what they started.  Get out now.  No Natalya.  So of course she won’t face her.  She is the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be at stabbing people in the back.  Natalya is with the people.  She has something to show Nikki, and goes right to the merchandise stand.  Right next to the John Cena merchandise.  There is Dolph Ziggler’s merchandise, The Undertaker’s  merchandise, there is even her ex-uncle, Bret “The Hitman” Hart’s merchandise, but Nattie doesn’t have any at all.  Nikki and her uncle will have something in common, they will both die alone.  So if Nattie doesn’t have any merchandise, neither will Nikki.  So both women fight it out in the merchandise stand.

Tonight:  Ambrose Vs Orton

Segment Number 5:  Alexa Bliss Promo

The Women’s Champ is with Dasha Fuentes.  Is she afraid about what will happen being inside a steel cage with Becky Lynch?  Alexa is not afraid, bring on this match, and when the match is over she wants to see the look on Becky’s face when she is still women’s champ.

Match Number 2:  Randy Orton Vs Dean Ambrose (IC Champ) in a non-title match

Dean Ambrose rolls up Orton when Luke Harper tried to interfere on Randy’s behalf.  Orton turned his back, and Ambrose picked up the win.  Now Harper and Orton are fighting each other.  Harper wouldn’t listen to Bray, and Wyatt slaps Harper.  Luke screams at Bray saying Randy did this.

Winner:  Dean Ambrose, by pinfall

Segment Number 7:  Becky Lynch Promo

Dasha Fuentes is with the challenger, and brings up Alexa talking about wanting to see the face of Becky when she loses.  Becky knows who she is, she always comes out for a fight.  She remembers the face Alexa had when she tapped out a few weeks ago.  Tonight, we will see what Alexa is made of, when she loses the title.

Segment Number 8:  King’s Court With Dolph Ziggler

Memphis’ own Jerry “The King” Lawler is here for The King’s Court.  It’s great to be back at the first ever King’s Court at Smackdown Live, in front of The King’s home of Memphis, Tennessee.  King wants to bring out Dolph Ziggler.  Dolph doesn’t say a word, but King wanted him to be the first guest because he has known him for a long time.  He knows he is a good guy, but lately his goodness has faded away like his bleached hair.  What is up with that?  Ziggler says nothing.  King believes that Ziggler is frustrated because he has lost many matches lately, and wants a new attitude, thinking that is going to win him some matches.  Ziggler says nothing.  King told Dolph he still lost last week to Kalisto, and he went further down the road with Apollo Crews.  We see footage of last week.  What about that Dolph?  Ziggler walks away, and King demands Dolph to talk.  You want me to talk, King?  I will talk.  He wasn’t going to come out here, and play his game.  He knew he would try to make him look bad, in front of King’s friends and family.  You want to know why, Jerry?  because Ziggler brought footage himself, and he wants him to take a good, long look, Jerry.

The footage is when King was suffering his heart attack from 2012.

You know what that is, Jerry.  That was Ziggler repeatedly dropping elbows minutes before he suffered his heart attack.  And Ziggler knows King blamed him for the heart attack, and he should have.  It’s been a long road, and it took him years to face Ziggler man to man.  But if you don’t stop with these questions, he will finish what he started 4 years ago.  Well that is too bad Dolph, because he has one more question for him.  How does it feel no matter how many times he changes his attitude, Ziggler will always be a loser?  Ziggler turns away, and kicks him down.  Now here comes JBL.  King screams at him if he has any guts to get back in this ring, and Ziggler walks away.

Next:  Women’s Title Match Inside a Steel Cage

Segment Number 9:  Bray Wyatt Promo

We go right to Bray when the announcers talk about what just happened.  The Wyatt Family will be entering the Royal Rumble match.  But first there is a personal message that needs to be delivered.  A divided family never helps a family.  So, next week, Luke Harper will face Randy Orton.  One will be stronger, and one will fall.  But at the end, The Wyatt Family will be standing stronger.

Match Number 3:  Alexa Bliss (Smackdown Women’s Champ) Vs Becky Lynch inside a steel cage, for the Women’s Championship

Alexa Bliss wins the match after La Luchadora blocks Becky from leaving the cage, and gives her a kick, followed by a Snapmare DDT on Alexa, retaining her title.

Winner, and still Smackdown Women’s Champ:  Alexa Bliss, by pinfall

After the match, Alexa and La Luchadora continues to put the boots on Becky, but Becky fights back, kicks La Luchadora, and snaps the mask off, to reveal La Luchadora is Mickie James.  The show ends with Mickie and Alexa kicking Becky down, and celebrating Alexa’s win.

Kevin’s Thoughts:

This was a damn good show.  3 matches, but they all had impact, including the ending of Alexa Vs Becky.  Now we see Mickie James return to WWE, where do we go from there?  I also liked seeing The Miz Vs AJ, but Cena had to prove he still is THE CHAMP.  I also want to see where Orton Vs Harper goes the next week.  This will be the Smackdown before Rumble, so it can set up the Rumble match, going forward.  Share me your thoughts with the show.

Quick Match Results:

**The Miz def AJ Styles (C), dy DQ

**Dean Ambrose def Randy Orton, by pinfall

**Alexa Bliss (C) def Becky Lynch, by pinfall to retain Women’s Title
