This is the 30th annual Royal Rumble.  Who will be “The One”?

Social Media Lounge:  Charly Caruso

Tonight’s guest will be the WWE Intercontinental Champion, Dean Ambrose in hour 2.

Peter Rosenberg is outside the building, among the fans.

Video:  Sami Zayn Vs Seth Rollins

Seth is out of the Rumble after losing this past week, but Rollins made his presence felt last night, at NXT Takeover.

Video:  HHH

HHH gave an exclusive interview on Facebook, and he made this clear, he will confront Seth, and we will see who “The Man” is sometime.  Shawn talks about how Hunter takes this business from a mental standpoint, and you will never win that game.  Just stay focused, and take it to the ring.

Video:  Royal Rumble….It’s About The Numbers

How does it feel getting that number 1 pick?  It’s very grueling, but back in the day, you could scout all 30 men, now you just never know who is coming in, says Shawn.

3 Kick-off matches tonight.  Tag Team Title is on the line, and 2 big grudge matches with the women.  Speaking of the women, Charlotte Flair Vs Bayley preview is next.

Video:  Charlotte Flair Vs Bayley

Charlotte is 15-0 in PPV history, this is Bayley’s first Women’s Title match on PPV.  Can she overcome the odds tonight?  Shawn warns Charlotte not to underestimate Bayley, this could be her moment.

Peter Rosenberg is now in the building, and he is giving us a demonstration of what it’s going to be like for the 30 men competing in the Rumble, and giving us the rules.  For those of you keeping score, a new man will come in every 2:00 this year.

Royal Rumble Moments:  2010 with Edge

Commentators:  Mauro Ranallo, David Otunga, Tom Phillips, and JBL

WWE Royal Rumble Kick-off Match Number 1:  Nikki Bella, Becky Lynch, and Naomi Vs Alexa Bliss (SD Live Women’s Champ), Natalya, and Mickie James

Naomi shows us she is the next contender to Smackdown Women’s Championship, because she hits a Split Legged Moonsault, pins Alexa Bliss for the win.

Winners:  Naomi, Nikki Bella, and Becky Lynch

Video:  Owens Vs Reigns

Backstage Segment:  Team Chris and Kevin

Charly interviews Kevin and Chris.  Jericho reminds us that this is Owen’s biggest match of his career, but Chris will be swinging in a shark cage, like a sexy pinata.  He is worried about doing this, but Kevin assures him he will have the best seat in the audience, because he will watch Kevin take care of “The Guy” and that is fine that Roman is “The Guy”, but Owens is the WWE Universal Champion, and he’d rather be The Universal Champion, than being “The Guy”.  And Chris says he wishes Charly was here, which Charly sells.  Funny stuff.

Peter Rosenberg shows up again, in the crowd.  9 weeks away from Wrestlemania, and it all begins tonight.  Oh lord, he is joining everyone in the panel for hour 2.  How many times does he talk about WWE Universe?

Royal Rumble Moment:  2012 with Sheamus

Commentators:  Michael Cole, Byron Saxton, and Corey Graves

Royal Rumble Kick-Off Match Number 2:  Cesaro and Sheamus (Raw Tag Champs) Vs Gallows and Anderson for Raw Tag Team Titles, and 2 Refs

Both refs had to be used here, as the first ref was knocked out by Sheamus.  We had the Cesaro Swing, the Swiss1-9, the Magic Killer.  But Anderson rolls up Cesaro, holding the tights for the win.  Gallows and Anderson for the first time are WWE Tag Champs.

Winners, and NEW Raw Tag Champs:  Gallows and Anderson, by pinfall

Peter Rosenberg fills in for Shawn Michaels now with the panel.

Rumble Moment:  2009 with Randy Orton

Austin Aries is here to talk about the Cruiserweight Title match tonight.

Can Rich Swann get that edge to defeat the red-hot Neville?

Social Media Lounge:  Dean Ambrose

If Dean can change a design of IC Title, what would he do?  Change the back to a stingray, make it work?  What is his “lunatic” strategy to Royal Rumble?  He has a very sound plan, to just get underneath the bottom rope, and hope people don’t step on him.  His final question is if he wins tonight, would he rather face Styles or Cena at Wrestlemania?  He would rather face AJ Styles, but he can meet Cena at the Waffle House parking lot.

WWE Royal Rumble Kick-Off Show Match Number 3:  Sasha Banks Vs Nia Jax

Nia picks up the win, dominating Sasha with the Samoan Drop.  They are still playing off the knee injury for Sasha.

Winner:  Nia Jax, by pinfall

Video:  Last night on NXT with Seth Rollins

Stephanie McMahon joins Renee, and she says it was disgusting and unprofessional to see how Seth Rollins acted last night, and she will address him tomorrow night on Raw.  But for tonight, Seth is banned from the building.

Sami Zayn is taking his spot, so can he last long tonight?

Video:  AJ Styles Vs John Cena Preview

Shawn Michaels comes back into the arena, welcoming the fans. He reminds us that 20 years ago in this very building, he was fortunate enough to win the WWE Title in his hometown.  But enough about him, this is about the Royal Rumble, and The Road to Wrestlemania.  Which of the 30 men will win the Rumble?  Is it going to be Brock Lesnar?  Goldberg?  Braun Strowman?  The Undertaker?  Shawn doesn’t know, but it’s time to get this party started.  And if you’re not down with that, we have two words for you….SUCK IT!!

WWE Royal Rumble Live From San Antonio, Texas

Sunday, January 29th, 2017

Commentators:  Michael Cole, Byron Saxton, David Otunga, Mauro Ranallo, Tom Phillips, Corey Graves, and JBL

Match Number 1:  Charlotte Flair (Raw Women’s Champ) Vs Bayley for the Raw Women’s Championship

Charlotte picks up the win, showcasing her dominance.  Despite being cut open, she hits a Natural Selection on the hard side of the mat, and pins Bayley.

Winner, and still Raw Women’s Champion:  Charlotte Flair, by pinfall

Match Number 2:  Kevin Owens (WWE Universal Champ) Vs Roman Reigns, in a No DQ match, for the WWE Universal Championship.  (Chris Jericho inside a shark cage)

What a match this was, we saw Braun Strowman give Reigns a Chokeslam through the announce table, after Reigns had things go his way, when Owens went through a string of chairs, and a Powerbomb through the Raw announce table.  But Braun, after what took place a few weeks ago on Raw got himself some revenge, and KO retains the title, after pinning him.

Winner, and still WWE Universal Champion:  Kevin Owens, by pinfall

Video:  Royal Rumble:  Inside The Numbers

Backstage Segments:  Wrestlers choosing numbers

Sami Zayn and Dean Ambrose select their numbers.  Sami is number 8, and Ambrose wants us to be surprised.

Match Number 3:  Rich Swann (WWE Cruiserweight Champ) Vs Neville for WWE Cruiserweight Title

Really, this was the one match I was least looking forward to, and part of that is the Cruiserweight Division just isn’t catching on with WWE audience.  It was fine, but it was dead silent here.  Neville wins the match, making Rich tap out to the Crossface.

Winner, and new WWE Cruiserweight Champion:  Neville, by submission

Wrestlemania 33 is 63 days away

Match Number 4:  AJ Styles (WWE World Champ) Vs John Cena, for the WWE World Title

Hands down, the match of the night here, it took 3 Attitude Adjustments, but John Cena,f or the 16th time became WWE World Champion.  Styles showed he belonged in the ring with Cena.  The only disappointment here is we never saw Ric Flair in this storyline, because history is being made here.

Winner, and NEW WWE World Champion:  John Cena, by pinfall

WWE Elimination Chamber is in 2 weeks

Video:  Seth Rollins in NXT Takeover last night.

Jerry “The King” Lawler comes out for commentary, as it’s Cole, Graves, and King calling the Rumble match.

Kevin’s Thoughts:

I loved this show, and even loved the fact we had a different winner, out of nowhere, if you wheel.  I loved Cena Vs Styles, Reigns Vs Owens, and we have some great Wrestlemania matches here.  Obviously, Goldberg Vs Lesnar.  We will also probably have Cena Vs Orton, but the big match we see here is The Undertaker Vs Reigns.  The fact Roman eliminated Taker, and we see that look on Taker’s face, this isn’t over.  This PPV exceeded the build up here, and I can’t wait for tomorrow night’s Raw.  But is there more to this?  Can Goldberg be WWE Universal Champion?  Something to think about, and will it indeed be Orton Vs Cena, since Elimination Chamber is in 2 weeks, and we could see Orton join Raw?  What did you think of the show?  Send me your thoughts, was Orton the right choice?
