Check out my WWE Royal Rumble preview here.

WWE NXT Takeover: San Antonio 1/28/17 Live Results

Corey Graves is telling us this is last night with NXT.  The new man who will take Corey’s spot is Nigel McGuiness.  What a great spot for Nigel.

Earlier Today:  Shinsuke Nakamura enters the building.

Tonight, Shinsuke will face Bobby Roode, which should be a “GLORIOUS” main event.  This is the biggest money match in NXT history.

NXT’s brand new Kayla Braxton is here in the crowd, giving us a report from the crowd.  All 3 titles are on the line, including NXT Tag Team Titles, with DIY Vs The Authors of Pain.

Video:  DIY Vs The Authors of Pain

Who has the upper hand tonight?  Nigel believes Authors of Pain has that, because of the physical abuse they took out on DIY.  Corey says it will be Authors of Pain, and Nigel believes DIY wins tonight.

2016 Year In Awards:  Breakout Star of the Year:

Nominees:  No Way Jose, Billie Kay and Peyton Royce, Ember Moon, Andrade “Cien” Almos, Sanity

Winner:  Peyton Royce and Billie Kay

They are both excited for winning Breakout of the Star.  Tonight, they are part of the Fatal 4-Way for Women’s Championship.  There is a chance one of them walks out as Women’s Champion, because they are both the same person.

NXT Match of the Year:  DIY Vs The Revival, from NXT Takeover:  Toronto

The Revival is here to accept the award, where is their award?  This is the better half of the match, The Revival.  They are not happy about the outcome, but 2016 was the year of The Revival.  Corey Graves also said they were the Tag Team of the Year.

Tag Team of the Year:  The Revival

The Revival will be watching very carefully of the Tag Team Title match, and make it known, they want a shot down the road.  “Top Guys, out”.

Backstage Interview:  Bobby Roode

The interview guy asks Bobby what is going through his mind over tonight’s match.  Take a look at Bobby, he is what a champion is supposed to look like, the only thing missing is Championship Gold.  He remembers what Shinsuke said to him last week.  That he will kick his foot down on his head.  Well, Bobby wants him to try it, because when he wins, it will be….you know.

Kayla Braxton is ready for tonight, she was at The Alamo today, and NXT Universe is ready for tonight’s show.

NXT Fatal 4-Way Match for Women’s Title.

Video:  Asuka’s Challenge

Ember Moon joins us now, and she awkwardly tells us that she is rooting for Asuka to win, because when she gets that opportunity, she wants to beat the best.  But she doesn’t tell us who will win.

Video:  NXT Tag Team Title match

DIY promo now, they won Match of the Year earlier, and tonight, they will prove why they earned those Tag Team Titles, and they will find a way to win, for the fans who believe in them.

NXT Woman’s Wrestler of the Year:  Asuka

But Peyton and Billie steal the plaque, and say tonight, they will take the Women’s Title.

NXT Men’s Wrestler of the Year:  Shinsuke Nakamura

Keon Braxton is here to introduce the overall NXT Competitor of the Year award.

Winner:  Shinsuke Nakamura

Video:  Nakamura Vs Roode

Who wins the match tonight?  Can Roode show us how “GLORIOUS” he can be?

NXT Takeover:  San Antonio is up next.

NXT Takeover:  San Antonio, Live in San Antonio, Texas

Saturday, January 28th, 2017

Commentators:  Tom Phillips, Percy Watson, and Corey Graves

Match Number 1:  Ty Dillinger Vs Eric Young

Young offered Dillinger a spot again into SANITY, but Young prevailed with a Swinging Neckbreaker, picking up the win.

Winner:  Eric Young, by pinfall

Video:  Shinsuke warming up

Samoa Joe is in the house.

Match Number 2:  Andrade “Cien” Almas Vs Roderick Strong

Strong picks up his first NXT Takeover win, with a running boot.  Good match here from both men.  Roddy has arrived.

Winner:  Roderick Strong, by pinfall

Royal Rumble Rewind:  1995 Rumble, with HBK winning

Video:  Bobby Roode

Roode is reflecting on this opportunity, as he starts to get his gear on.  Michael “P.S.” Hayes is in attendance.

Match Number 3:  DIY (NXT Tag Team Champs) Vs The Authors of Pain, for NXT Tag Team Titles

Somewhat of a disappointment for me, but Authors of Pain win, with The Super Collider, after breaking out of the Armbar submission moves Ciampa and Gargano gave.  Authors of Pain are the new Tag Team Champions.

Winners, and NEW Tag Team Champs:  The Authors of Pain, by pinfall

In-Ring Promo:  Seth Rollins

Seth interrupts the show, and calls HHH to the ring.  He took his life away from him, and he won’t leave this ring until he comes out, and makes him.  HHH comes out.  HHH calls for security to come out, and Seth will lay them all out.  Seth is heading backstage, with officials coming out to break it up.  They all escort him out of the building.

Match Number 4:  Asuka (NXT Women’s Champ) Vs Billie Kay Vs Nikki Cross Vs Peyton Royce in a Fatal 4-Way for NXT Women’s Title

Peyton and Billie took out Nikki Cross in the match, putting her through a table by the announce crew.  This left Asuka alone with them, but Asuka retains her title, pinning Peyton with a kick to the head.

Winner, and still NXT Women’s Champion:  Asuka, by pinfall

Tyler Bate is in the house, is he Royal Rumble bound?

Match Number 5:  Shinsuke Nakamura (NXT World Champ) Vs Bobby Roode, for NXT World Championship

Bobby Roode has the Ric Flair entrance, being accompanied by 8 women, which is GLORIOUS.

Roode wins with the Glorious DDT, after Shinsuke injured his knee.  The ref checked on Nakamura, but he continued on.  Roode wins the belt after a second Glorious DDT.  The crowd loved it, and celebrate with Roode.  The show ends here.

Winner and NEW NXT World Champion:  Bobby Roode, by pinfall

Kevin’s Thoughts:

Not one of the best Takeover shows, but I liked it.  Tomorrow nights show will be big.  So tonight served its purpose.  I loved Roode’s win, hated Tag Team Title result.  I hope Nakamura is okay.

Rollins promo too was interesting, setting up his match with HHH.  Send me your thoughts on the show, and if you were there live, send me a report.
